American artist, Tanya Isaacson, is a primarily self-taught realist oil painter residing in South Florida. Tanya received her BFA in Illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, where she began a successful career in Digital Graphics and Illustration. In 2015, Tanya found herself at creative crossroads between the corporate world of Graphic Design and that of painting. It was at this time, she redirected her creative energy to nurture that long neglected part of herself, her passion for painting.

Inspired by Renaissance art and masters, Tanya was drawn to figurative realism, chiaroscuro, narrative, and dramatic themes which influences are evident in her paintings. She is drawn to storytelling, art as “visual poetry” and brings that element into her pieces. She has a particular affinity for the stories of women, seeing those stories as important pieces of American culture and history. Tanya incorporates these stories, from her own life and others, into her work.

“My figurative works tell stories of the human experience. They are a record and often a commentary on life, culture, and social history as experienced through my own personal existence. Through this work, I strive to create a connection with the viewer, perhaps not always concious, but one that is understood through our most innermost commonalities; not always visible, but I believe often shared. Ordinary lives witnessed and observed.

Some works derive from memory or dream, an attempt at putting together the life pieces. Some works are “statement pieces”, and are an expression of my ideas and opinion. Some works are simply portraits, a sharing of love and comfort from one person to another.”
